A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more. Chronic diseases generally cannot be prevented by vaccines or cured by medication. They are a global problem, and their numbers – since the last decades of the 20th century – have increased significantly. In the Arab countries, changes in patterns of food behavior and physical activity have led to changes in their rates and rise.
Chronic diseases include heart disease, such as heart attacks, stroke and high blood pressure, cancer of all kinds, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetic. Chronic diseases require expensive treatments, the challenge is to use low-cost emerging technology to address healthcare gaps and find practical solutions to improve the health of millions of people.
